Morton’s Neuroma

Morton's neuroma is a condition that affects the nerves between the metatarsal bones in the foot (usually between the 3rd and 4th digit). It is characterized by the thickening of the tissue around a nerve leading to the toes. The exact cause of Morton’s neuroma is not fully understood, but it is often associated with repetitive stress or irritation on the nerve.

  • Pain, numbness, tingling, or burning sensation in the ball of the foot/between the toes
  • Possible clicking sounds when squeezing the toes
  • Swelling in and around the toes

Treatment of Morton’s Neuroma

  • Wearing shoes with a wider toe box and lower heels can help reduce pressure on the affected area
  • Custom orthotics with a ‘metatarsal pad’ to help offload the area
